Head coach Tony Bennett and the Virginia staff hits the recruiting trail at 5:00 p.m. for the opening of the July live period.
Virginia will start in Georgia and South Carolina for the cluster of events that coincide with Peach Jam, where Bennett and the UVA staff will be on-hand to watch their lone 2019 commitment, Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College High shooting guard Casey Morsell and Team Takeover, which enters Peach Jam as the top-seed after going undefeated in the preliminary legs of the NIKE EYBL.
While Virginia will be keeping eyes on the 2019 class to fill a need, which is currently an athletic wing, the big goal of the weekend will be fully evaluating the 2020 class members that are in action.
For that reason, Tony Bennett will be departing the Georgia/South Carolina border and Atlanta, where he’ll be posted up at Peach Jam, Peach Invitational, and Peach State as well as the Under Armour event in Atlanta.
Bennett and staff will be in Atlanta to see 2019 five-star targets Josh Green and Josiah James, both players align with what UVA is looking for athletically, although wing-sized, Green is more point forward and James, who named UVA among his finalists, is a point guard.
The UVA head coach will make his way to New York to take in the Adidas event to fully evaluate several 2020 prospects, but this is a big time for Richmond (Va.). Episcopal forward Henry Coleman. The UVA head coach is intent on seeing how the 2020 four-star forward performs. If UVA does indeed offer, the Wahoos are going to be tough to beat for Coleman’s services.
“My mom actually went (to UVA), so I’ve been to football games and coming back to basketball games since I was little,” said Coleman to Wahoos247.
